Lorenzo Masala
Reeds Specialist & Oboist
Lorenzo Masala was born in 1972 in Genoa, Italy.
​
He started playing the oboe at the age of 10, with Elias Ovcinnikoff and then with Giampiero de Santi, Solo-Oboist at the Genoa Opera.
​
After the Orchestra Diploma at Conservatory "Nicolo' Paganini" in Genoa at the age of 19, he continued his studies at the Musik-Akademie Basel, in the Konzertklasse of Omar Zoboli, starting the baroque oboe with Michel Piguet, and later at the Musikhochschule Luzern in the Solisten - Klasse of Kurt Meier.
He attended Oboe Masterclasses with Ingo Goritzi, Hans Elhorst, Robin Canter, Alex Klein, Albrecht Mayer, Jean Louis Capezzali, and Emmanuel Abbühl.
He played as a soloist with «Collegium Musicum Schloss Pommersfelden», Bamberg, with the Akademisches Orchester Danzig, with Luzerner Kammer Orchester, and with the Ensemble La Partita, Zürich. Recordings for Swiss Radio DRS, Bavarian Radio, Radio France, RAI-Italian Radio, and Polish Radio.
Lorenzo has played and plays regularly with orchestras and ensembles: Theater Basel, Basel Sinfonietta, Camerata Schweiz, Da Vinci Orchestra Basel, Aargauer Sinfonieorchester,
Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein, Schweizer Philharmonie Luzern, Kammerorchestre Wallis, Sinfonieorchestre Mulhouse, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Orchestra Regionale Toscana, Orchestra del Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Philarmonie Jena.
